Seeking Dell or HP Notebook/Laptop Suggestions?
Looking for recommendations only on either Dell or HP laptops/notebooks, no others please.
What is your budget?
-$1000 and under.
What size notebook would you prefer?
-Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen
What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?
-College student, so coursework and heavy Internet use.
Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?
-Will be travelling with me since I am out of state for college, some mobility to it would be nice. 3 or more hours of battery life is a plus.
Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?
-Microsoft Flight Simulation X
Would you prefer standard or widescreen?
-Widescreen would be nice, but I need to fit the computer in a backpack. But in standard a SXGA; in wider: WXGA or WXGA+ - 1280x768/800 or 1440x900 or WSXGA+ - 1680x1050.
At least 60GB harddrive; prefer Intel processor that runs between 1.7GHz to 2.0GHz; prefer 1.0GB+ of RAM; and at least 3 years of life.

I can only comment that Dell’s service has been rated very poor ,in the last few months, while HP gives better service and has comparably product. Here is a website on the bells and whistles but if I cannot get good service from the provider of my computers I will not purchase from them. I would google Dell laptop service or problems with Dell laptop service and see what people have posted. Here is a link to information on each computer:
