It is just okay. Not what I expected. The zips are stiff and the backpack is very heavy. Fully loaded weights a ton.

The Tamrac Aero Speed Pack 85 arrived about an hour ago and already I have serious doubts about it. When I ordered the pack I wanted something to carry my Nikon D2X with a Nikkor 28-70 f/2.8 lens attached along with a flash and some filters. As advertised this appeared to be ideal for my intended use; just large enough to carry my camera, an extra lens, a flash, some filters along with couple more items plus there would be quick access to my camera. This would be fantastic for short hikes or long walks.
I put my camera with a Nikkor 28-120 f/3.5 lens attached in the pack just to try it out. As soon as I put the pack on my back I realized it may not be the best thing since sliced bread. Even with only the weight of a camera and small lens it didn’t feel quite right. Then I swung the pack around, as is shown in the Tamrac video. Oh my, the left shoulder strap most fell off my shoulder, (not a good thing). Then I opened the side access door to pull out the camera, it was not easy trying to pull the camera out of the pack while making sure the left shoulder strap didn’t fall off. Putting the camera back also proved to be quite a balancing act.
This pack is advertised as, “Completely foam padded bottom photo compartment holds and protects a digital SLR camera with a grip and lens attached (including most 70-200mm f/2.8 zoom lenses)”. This pack will not hold the D2X camera with my 70-200mm f/2.8 zoom lens attached. In fact I cannot carry both the lens and camera in the pack at the same time.
Needless to say this pack is going back Monday.

Positive: As described – very strong bag! YES the zippers are a little stiff but don’t let that stop you from buying the bag. I have had zero issues with them and the other zippers are VERY smooth.
Negative: Chief complaint is there is not much room for `personal’ things but I was aware of this before I bought the bag. It could also use more `pockets’ – there is a lot of unused space that I think they could have capitalized on.

Overall I’d say this is a great camera/computer bag. The only thing I wish it had was a way to store more accessories, such as batteries, power cords, etc. It has one large storage area but it’s like having a dresser with only one drawer to put you pants, shirts, etc, into. That’s a minor thing, though. If you’re looking for a way to carry along both your computer and camera/lenses I believe you’ll be happy with the purchase.

This is an awesome bag that easily holds my D300s with 18-200mm lens attached, and a couple of extra lenses, and 17 inch Mac Book Pro. Not only does it hold all of the gear but there are pockets for smaller gadgets, manuals, and filters.
Of course when it’s loaded with everything it’s a bit bulky but that’s the price you pay for being able to have all of that gear with you in a single convenient package.
Overall this bag looks great and is very functional. I’m very happy with it.
